Last year, at Easter, our church Spring of Life hosted an exhibition of my works. One artist traveled from another city—about a four-hour drive from Mukilteo—to attend. One of my paintings especially drew his attention. He stood in front of it for a long time, studying it carefully.
Then he said, “This piece looks even more beautiful than in the photograph. This biblical subject speaks volumes.”
All Christian painting is based on biblical texts. These texts are transformed into narratives, scenes, and portraits. At the exhibition “The Apostles of Jesus Christ,” which will take place April 2–4 in Mukilteo, works depicting Gospel scenes will be presented. I sincerely encourage you to visit this exhibition of paintings and become acquainted with the works of renowned artists.
The exhibition will feature works by distinguished artists:
- T. Kvashura, a painter from Kuban, Soviet and Russian artist, and member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation.
- Y. Y. Suleimanov, a painter and draftsman known for his unique personal style in portrait painting.
- Serov, a representative of the classical school of painting, a Russian artist whose works speak for themselves—best appreciated in person.
During the exhibition, you will also encounter works by other local artists, presented from personal and private collections. There will be video presentations by artists from around the world sharing about their works. A free master class in portrait painting will be held by artist Y. Suleimanov. Every visitor will also have the opportunity to participate in a performance—an engaging and philosophical project specially designed by the artist, where everyone can leave their mark in the history of art.
Music, coffee, a creative atmosphere, meeting friends, and conversations with artists—all of this will bring you joy and unforgettable positive emotions. You can read more details here (in Russian only).
We, as Christians, are called to testify about God not only with words, but also through brush, color, form, and image. Through the Bible, through science, and through art, God speaks to this world. Even if people remain silent, art will speak about Christ. If a preacher falls silent in the church, the frescoes will still proclaim Jesus Christ.
“True art must testify to the truth. And the truth is in the Gospel,” wrote Hans Holbein the Younger. Art is celebration, light, joy, and peace. Good art carries hope, beauty, freedom, and truth—and therefore has the power to draw a person closer to God.
God is the great Artist who creates something new every day.
